There is something undeniably romantic about Washington, DC in the fall. The changing leaves, golden afternoon sunshine, and crisp autumn air create a beautiful setting for engagement photographs. For A and N's session at Meridian Hill Park, we couldn't have asked for a lovelier day.
Nestled in the heart of DC, Meridian Hill Park (also know as Malcolm X Park by locals) is one of my favorite places for engagement photography. With its historic, warm stone architecture, grand staircases, winding pathways, and beautiful mature trees, the park offers a wonderful combination of natural beauty and timeless elegance.
When we met for A and N's engagement session last fall, the foliage was at its peak. Brilliant shades of gold, orange, and red filled the park, while warm sunlight filtered through the trees. It was the kind of afternoon that makes you want to slow down and savor the season.
But as beautiful as the setting was, what made the session special was the opportunity to capture A and N together.
My favorite engagement photographs are always the ones that feel like the couple themselves. The little interactions, easy laughter, and quiet moments of connection are what make photographs meaningful long after the day has passed. Rather than focusing on perfectly posed images, our time together was about creating space for A and N to simply enjoy one another, with the park's beautiful autumn colors as a backdrop.
One of the things I love most about engagement sessions is that they give us an opportunity to get to know one another before the wedding day. It's a chance to become comfortable in front of the camera, explore what feels natural, and create photographs that celebrate this particular season of life.
A & N will be married this fall, and I couldn't be more excited to celebrate with them. From one beautiful autumn day to another, it feels especially fitting that their wedding will take place during the same season as their engagement photographs.
