A & M’s Spring Engagement Session at Tudor Place | Washington, DC Wedding Photographer

There is something especially lovely about photographing a couple during the season of life when the wedding is still ahead of them and there is time to simply enjoy being engaged.

For A and M, their spring engagement session at Tudor Place in Georgetown was a celebration of an especially exciting season. They met at William & Mary, and now, years later, they are preparing to begin another chapter together. A was also preparing to graduate from law school, making this season feel like a particularly meaningful transition.

We met at Tudor Place on a beautiful spring afternoon, when the gardens were filled with fresh green foliage, seasonal blooms, and soft Washington, DC light. The historic Georgetown estate provided an elegant and timeless setting for their engagement portraits, with its gardens, pathways, and architecture offering plenty of variety throughout the session.

And, as with all of my favorite engagement sessions, some of the most meaningful details were the ones that were uniquely theirs.

Mike arrived wearing a belt featuring the William & Mary skyline, a small but wonderful nod to where their story began. It was exactly the kind of personal detail I love incorporating into engagement photographs. These images are not just about what a couple looks like together. They should also tell us something about who they are and the life they have built together.

Engagement Photos at Tudor Place

Tudor Place is one of my favorite locations for engagement photography in Washington, DC. Located in Georgetown, the historic estate combines beautiful architecture with expansive gardens, creating an elegant backdrop for couples who want their engagement portraits to feel timeless but still connected to the city.

One of the things I love about engagement sessions is that they give couples the opportunity to slow down and spend time together before the wedding day arrives. There is no timeline to manage and no long list of family photographs to organize. Instead, we can focus on the two of you, your connection, and the way you naturally interact.

It is also a chance to get comfortable in front of the camera. By the end of a session, most couples have stopped thinking about being photographed entirely. That is often when the most meaningful images happen.

From Engagement Session to Wedding Day

And for A and M, their wedding day is almost here.

This weekend they will celebrate with their closest family and friends and begin their next chapter together. Looking back at these spring engagement portraits makes the anticipation for their wedding day even sweeter.

I cannot wait to photograph all of the moments, big and small, that make their wedding day uniquely theirs.

If you're planning a wedding in Washington, DC or looking for a Washington, DC wedding photographer who can balance artful portraits with the candid moments of the day, I'd love to hear what you're planning.
